Webinar/Virtual Meeting

The risk of wildfires, once largely a concern primarily for the Western U.S., is an emerging national issue. NASEO and the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), with support from the U.S. Department of Energy, are organizing a cohort to help states address emerging wildfire threats to critical energy infrastructure and navigate the evolving challenges this creates for State Energy Offices and Public Utility Commissions.

Building on NARUC's Wildfire Workbook and NASEO's Wildfire Forum Webinar Series, the cohort will feature expert presentations and action-oriented discussions among states to put the lessons learned into practice. The cohort includes four 90-minute topic-driven virtual sessions.

The launch of the Wildfire Resilience Cohort will be on May 13, 2026, from 12:30–2:00 p.m. ET. This session will focus on what actionable wildfire mitigation plans look like in practice, how that planning intersects with statewide energy security planning, and replicable coordination frameworks based on how states are comprehensively approaching wildfire risks to energy infrastructure.
