On June 24, 2020, the NASEO supported HOPE for HOMES Act of 2020, was introduced by Representatives Peter Welch (D-Vt.) and David McKinley (R-W.Va.), and Senators Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) and Chris Coons (D-Del.). The bill provides for homeowners to invest in energy efficiency improvements, authorizes $500 million in grants for home energy efficiency training, and incentivizes the rehiring and training of employees and contracting firms. NASEO worked with key private sector partners, such as the Building Performance Association and many others, to provide input on and support this important bill.
