The New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department’s (EMNRD) Energy Conservation and Management Division (ECMD) released a new New Mexico Grid Modernization Roadmap, which outlines the priorities and strategies to modernize the state’s electric grid. The roadmap was developed with the assistance of the Grid Modernization Advisory Group(GMAG), a group of experts that also released its recommendations in a series of whitepapers. ECMD’s Grid Modernization Program includes a grant program to support technology-focused pilot projects and other relevant research.
The primary purpose of this roadmap is to guide New Mexico’s electricity providers, as well as the associated industries, the research community, and energy consumers through the state’s transition to a zero-carbon electricity grid. The roadmap considers actions that could be taken across the next eight years (2022-2030) to achieve grid modernization. A copy of the roadmap and additional information can be found here.
