In January 2022, Governor Andy Beshear and the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet announced a regional Hydrogen Hub Workgroup. The workgroup looks to develop hydrogen projects that will be eligible for Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) funding. Hydrogen is considered a key approach to economic development in Kentucky, as outlined in the state’s energy strategy plan: KYE3: Designs for a Resilient Economy. KYE3 highlights establishing a hydrogen hub in Kentucky for production, transportation, exports, and industrial use. The workgroup is made up of academics, individuals, organizations, and businesses interested in these hydrogen applications. Review the workgroup resources here.
