On March 15, 2022 the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) announced $1.9 million in awards for their Clean Fuels Incentive Program. Overall, the eight awards will leverage over $10 million to invest in alternative fuel fleets, covering electric. Awarded projects include the use of electricity, propane and compressed natural gas in a wide variety of fleet applications.
“Fostering energy independence through clean transportation fuels such as electricity, natural gas and propane is essential to our national security and response to climate change,” said MEA Director Dr. Mary Beth Tung. “Clean fuels provide a broad range of benefits, including enhancing environmental justice, as many of these fleets serve areas of the state that may be disproportionately impacted by emissions.”
The awards will represent both small and large fleet operators, and support Governor Hogan’s commitment to reduce pollution from the transportation sector, in order to combat climate change and improve air quality.
A complete list of awards is available here, and the MEA is now accepting applications for another round of the Clean Fuels Incentive Program, due on April 20, 2022.
