On March 24, 2023, the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) announced the members of two task forces on carbon capture, utilization, and sequestration (CCUS). The task forces will provide recommendations on permitting for CCUS projects, including CO2 pipelines, and ensure that projects are developed and deployed responsibly with local community input. The task forces’ membership includes representatives from industry; state, local and Tribal governments; environmental organizations; and developers. One task force will focus on permitting and developing CCUS projects on federal lands and the Outer Continental Shelf, and the other on permitting and developing on non-federal lands. State Energy Officials selected to participate are Jason Lanclos (Louisiana), Gregory Todd (Utah), Rich Garman (North Dakota), and Michael Turner (Colorado).
